Thursday 3 March 2016, by SIGNIS

Brussels, March 3rd, 2016 (SIGNIS). Margaretha (Greet) Vanaerschot has been appointed Secretary General of Pax Christi International, effective immediately.

Greet has been working for Pax Christi International since 1981, serving as Deputy Secretary General since 2009. Her long experience and deep appreciation for Pax Christi’s mission and values make Greet an exceptional choice for leadership of the international Catholic movement for peace and reconciliation.

Pax Christi International is a Catholic peace movement with 120 member organisations worldwide that promotes peace, respect of human rights, justice and reconciliation throughout the world. Grounded in the belief that peace is possible and that vicious cycles of violence and injustice can be broken, Pax Christi International addresses the root causes and destructive consequences of violent conflict and war. This international movement is directed by two co-presidents: Bishop Kevin Dowling from South Africa and Marie Dennis (USA). The international general secretariat is situated in Brussels.
