CIVIS: Europe’s media prize for integration 2016

Berlin, May, 13th, 2016 (CIVIS). Last Night, was held in Berlin the 29th prize-giving ceremony of the European CIVIS Media Prize for Migration, Integration and Cultural Diversity. CIVIS recognizes programme contributions on the radio, film, television and the Internet, which are particularly suitable for the promotion of the peaceful coexistence of people of different geographic or cultural backgrounds.

At the ceremony, many officials were present: the German President Joachim Gauck and Martin Schulz, the President of the European Parliament as well as high-profile patrons and numerous prominent guests and presenters from politics, society and the media. This year showed a record number of participants, with 935 programmes from 21 EU countries and Switzerland competing in 13 categories, such as the European CIVIS Television Prize 2016 / Magazine, the CIVIS Cinema Prize 2016 for European feature films or the European Young CIVIS Media Prize 2016.

The CIVIS Media Foundation is an international media network and monitoring centre for migration, integration and cultural diversity in Europe. The CIVIS Media Prize annually recognizes European programme contributions on radio, film, television and the Internet. As an independent, non-partisan and non-profit organization, CIVIS actively accompanies the formation of medial opinion on all relevant socio-political issues in the European immigration society.
