Ecumenical Award at the Yerevan Film festival

Monday 18 July 2016, by SIGNIS

Yerevan, July, 18th, 2016 (SIGNIS/Interfilm). At the 13th Yerevan International Film Festival, which took place from July 10-17 in Armenia, the Ecumenical Jury awarded its prize to The Immortal, by Seyed Hadi Mohaghegh (Iran).

The film concerns a sixty-year-old man searching for ways to end his life as he feels guilty for the death of his family. It touches upon family relations and reveals the humanity and dignity of a person who, till his death, has a living love towards his only surviving grandson. The film manages to realize its objectives in a highly aesthetical and impressive quality. Through traditional oriental film-making the images of the nature and the local inhabitants seem quite vivid which helps to convey the essential issues of our death and life.

The jury members were

  • Anita Uzulniece (Latvia)
  • Garegin Hambardzumyan (Armenia)
  • Ákos Lázár Kovács (Hungary)
