SIGNIS prize at the FilmFest Munich

Wednesday 6 July 2016, by SIGNIS

Munchen, July 6th, 2016 2016 (SIGNIS). SIGNIS gave an award at the FilmFest Munchen that took place from June 23rd to July 2nd, on the occasion of the attribution of the Fritz Gerlig Award, installed by the German production house Tellux. The jury was composed by the jury of the Fritz Gerlig Prize and one spokesperson of SIGNIS International.

The SIGNIS award was given to the french film Le Voyage de Fanny, by the director Lola Doillon.

The film is based on real events that took place in France during the WWII. During the German occupation, Jews were persecuted and many families decided to leave their children so that they can have a better chance to stay alive. The film tells the story of a group of children under the supervision of Fanny, 13. They become refugees and start a difficult journey to reach Switzerland.

Even though the film shows the WWII, it is very current. Indeed, nowadays, the number of children who flee the war and become refugees is growing constantly. The film shows that solidarity, hope, courage and resistance towards injustice are timeless values.
