Karachi, Brussels, December 15th, 2015 (Agenzia Fides/SIGNIS). "The good news of God’s mercy in Urdu is a tool to give all Pakistani citizens, of all religions": this is what Fr. Arthur Charles, a Capuchin friar and editor of the magazine, says about the weekly Agahi , the first in Urdu, which has just celebrated its tenth anniversary.

" Agahi was the first Catholic weekly in Urdu, launched on the occasion of the feast of Christ the King, on November 26, 2006. It became very popular immediately, with a circulation of about 10,000 copies every week", said the director.

In recent days, the celebration of the anniversary gathered hundreds of people in Karachi in St. Patrick’s cathedral. The director pointed out that during the work of publication, "we focus on three main principles: to inform, educate, and form. Agahi remains faithful to its mission to spread the message of Jesus Christ our Lord".

Father Charles is a professor of dogmatic theology and director of the Catechetical Centre of Karachi. The contents of Agahi range from ecclesial news, the Church in Pakistan and other countries in the world, including biblical, theological, liturgical, moral and social issues.

"In the Jubilee Year, Agahi will spread the universal message of compassion and mercy, which touches every baptized but also all people of good will", said Fr. Charles.
