Australasian Catholic Press Association : Awards for Excellence 2016

Sidney, September 30th, 2016 (ACBC Communications). Recently, the Australasian Catholic Press Association held its annual awards ceremony, in Sidney. The aim of the ACPA Awards is to “encourage and reward excellence in the field of Catholic publishing and the media”.

The well-known Australian actor and author William McInnes was a guest speaker at the Catholic Media awards dinner. He congratulated all the award winners and spoke about people of grace and moments of mercy in his life.

Archbishop Mark Coleridge’s daily blog during the Synod on the Family, ‘On the Road Together’ was awarded ‘Best Column or Blog’. The judges acknowledged the daily personal insights into the Synod process, which the blog provided and highlighted the Archbishop’s ‘self-deprecating sense of humour’ throughout the blog posts.
The award for best magazine was won by Broken Bay News and best online publication was Eureka Street.

The Southern Cross newspaper, published by the Archdiocese of Adelaide, was awarded the 2016 Bishop Philip Kennedy Memorial Award for Overall Excellence.
The Australasian Catholic Press Association Awards for Excellence 2016 were presented on Tuesday 6 September, by Sydney Auxiliary Bishop Tony Randazzo at the organisation’s annual dinner at Mary MacKillop Place, North Sydney.
