Mumbai, Brussels, December 1st, 2015 (SIGNIS/Matters India). The office of Lokmat, a prominent newspaper group, was attacked in a couple of places in Maharashtra, and copies of the Sunday edition were burnt at several places, over a derogatory image.

The article and graphics – ‘ISIS cha Paisa’ (ISIS’s money), that appeared in supplement Manthan of Lokmat, the Marathi daily, has irked the members of the Muslim community.

Meanwhile, the editor of the daily has extended immediate apology for the derogatory image with an assurance that it will take action against the guilty for the publication of image. An FIR, too was registered, Deccan Herald reported.

Security at all the Lokmat offices across Maharashtra has been beefed up. “We are monitoring the situation and we request the people to help us maintain peace,” a top Maharashtra Police official said.
