Monday 1 February 2016, by SIGNIS

Brussels, February, 1st, 2016 (SIGNIS/A. Hernández). The National Christian Communication Centre (NCCC) has been organizing workshops for indigenous girls and women of two dioceses and major seminarians since October 2015 in Bangladesh. The goal is to enhance their capacity and their knowledge as well as to improve their effective use of social media.

The supervisor of this project, Rev. Fr. Joyanto Gomes, explained that the areas served by these workshops are the dioceses of Dhaka, Sylhet and Chittagong. It includes civil districts and parishes.

24 women indigenous representatives are trained for community development through radio and 60 major seminarians are skilled to use social media in their apostolate and evangelization. In such a way, the projects are aiming to empower women.

This project was created in order to develop the talents of the women, and to give them the opportunity to become more autonomic and self-confident.
