Media Literacy Council creates customised emojis

Thursday 7 April 2016, by SIGNIS

Singapore, April 7th, 2016 (Marketing-interactive). The Media Literacy Council has created a set of eight emojis “to promote a safer, responsible and positive use of the Internet.” The eight emojis are represented by four core values: “Respect”, “Responsibility”, “Empathy” and “Integrity”.

While the actual Safer Internet Day has passed, the campaign is still ongoing and members of the public have been encouraged to take the Emoji Face Challenge. The challenge engages them to mimic one of the eight emojis created by taking a selfie or a video of themselves. They will then have to share the video via #BetterInternetSG and tagging three other friends to participate too.

Four SBS Transit double deck buses will also be wrapped in ads of people mimicking four of the eight emojis to raise public awareness of the challenge until May 2016. Jayne Kwek, CEO of Moove Media said: “Double deck buses are giant moving billboards. They are very visible and always on the move, which will not only extend the reach of the campaign, but also deepen the impression the emojis would have on the target audience.”
