Signis Member Appointed as the Secretary of CBCI Commission for Laity in India
Chennai, July 23, 2011 (Magimai Pragasam) - For the first time in the history of Indian Church, a SIGNIS member, Fr.Vincent Chinnadurai has been appointed as the Secretary of CBCI Commission for Laity. Fr.Vincent will also be the Coordinator of the laity commissions of Syro- Malabar and Syro Malankara Catholic Churches in the country.
Currently Fr.Vincent Chinnadurai is the President of SIGNIS Tamil Nadu and recently appointed as the Parish Priest of St.Joachim and Ann’s Church, Thiruvanmayur, belonging to the Diocese of Chenglepattu. Prior to the present appointment, Fr.Vincent was serving as the Chairman of Minority Commission of Government of Tamil Nadu during which tenure he introduced a series of welfare programmes for minorities in Tamil Nadu and helped thousands of students from minority communities to obtain scholarships for studies. He travelled to all the districts of Tamil Nadu to identify the issues of minorities and take steps to solve them.
Recipient of various awards both at national and international levels, Fr. Vincent has always exhibited professionalism in his approach. He is known for promoting the interests of Laity in the Catholic Church. He encourages laity to secure a rightful place in the Church and the society through active participation and dedication.
With his special skills and experience, Fr. Vincent is sure to inspire and motivate hundreds of laity in the Church and design creative programmes for them. Let us wish Fr. Vincent an eventful and a fruitful tenure in the office of Laity Commission of Catholic Bishop’s Conference of India!
