Online campaign for Radio Shalom in Sierra Leone
Toronto, April 2, 2012 (WACC/SIGNIS) - On April 1, WACC (The World Association for Christian Communication) together with the Council of Churches of Sierra Leone (CCSL) launched an online fundraising campaign for Radio Shalom, a peace radio based in Freetown, Sierra Leone that will broadcast programmes aimed at fostering peace and reconciliation in the country devastated by a decade of civil war.
Following the meeting between SIGNIS Secretary General Alvito De Souza and WACC Secretary General Rev. Dr. Karin Achtelstetter in Toronto, April 2, SIGNIS has decided to support this campaign for peacebuilding through radio in Sierra Leone.
The fundraising campaign is being conducted on GlobalGiving, a fundraising web site that gives social entrepreneurs and non-profits from around the world a chance to raise funds for different projects, at /www.globalgiving.org/projects/build-a-radio-station-for-peace-in-sierra-leone. WACC, a long time partner of SIGNIS, whose vision is “Communication for All”, is committed to advancing peace, understanding and justice around the world.
The full story about the project is on WACC website: www.waccglobal.org
