AMARC Launches Forum on Social Impact of Community radio

Montreal, September 6, 2006 (Amarc) - The AMARC Electronic Forum on Community Radio Impact Evaluation has started. It will be active from 4 to 22 September and is multilingual.

Please consult the synthesis documents issued from the regional roundtables serving for the discussion at http://evaluation.amarc.org/documents.

The electronic forum consists in on line multilingual discussions held simultaneously on three topics of great importance to community radio stakeholders. First of all, the review on the situation of community radios, the barriers and the opportunities. Second, the evaluation of community radio social impact and how to measure that impact in order to highlight CR contribution, increase effectiveness of interventions and support communication processes coming from civil society. Thirdly, explore how can AMARC make a difference through its interventions and helping define lines of action of the community radio movement and its stakeholders.

The documents issued from the discussions of the electronic forum will be presented to the AMARC 9, World Conference of Community Radio Broadcasters to be held in Amman, Jordan from November 11-17, 2006. For further information on AMARC 9, go to http://amarc9.amarc.org.
