Karlovy Vary, 11 July 2017 (SIGNIS Europe) - During the 52nd edition of Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Ken Loach and Paul Laverty were officially handed out the 2016 Best European Film of the year for I, Daniel Blake.
Every year, the 14 delegations of SIGNIS Europe vote to choose the best European Film of the year. This year, they voted for I, Daniel Blake which won the Palme d'or at the Festival de Cannes in 2016, along with a commendation of the Ecumenical Jury.
Invited by the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Ken loach and his long time screenwriter Paul Laverty had a very friendly meeting the members of the Ecucumenical Jury. With Lukas Jirsa, representative of SIGNIS in the Czech Republic, they received the medal for SIGNIS Europe best film of 2016.
