SIGNIS Asia to hold First International Radio Encounter

(SIGNIS Asia). The SIGNIS Asia Radio Desk invites Catholic broadcasters, podcasters, and producers to participate in their first international radio encounter from May 9 to May 12, 2022. The event will combine both a face-to-face gathering in Sri Lanka and online conferences.

The theme of this first edition will be “Engaging the Youth for a Dynamic Radio Uniting Asia and the World”. After a series of successful radio training programmes over the last years, the SIGNIS Asia Radio Desk is looking to involve more young participants in its activities and will invite around 100 young broadcasters and podcasters from the five regions of SIGNIS (Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, North America and the Pacific).

The event aims to be an international forum for radio experts to exchange ideas with the world’s youth and train young people to produce podcasts and radio broadcasts. In addition, it seeks to build long-lasting partnerships between radio professionals and young radio producers and develop models for using radio as a tool for evangelization worldwide, particularly as an essential medium for the poor and marginalized.

Presenters include Fr. Paul Samasumo, Vice President of SIGNIS and Chair of the SIGNIS Radio Desk, Fr. Lal Pushpadewa, President of SIGNIS Sri Lanka and President of Radio Veritas in the Philippines, and Dayana Ortiz, winner of the SIGNIS international podcast competition and producer at Radio Lío.
