UNESCO rolls out first African MOOC on freedom of expression and safety of journalists
Panama, November, 7th, 2017 (SIGNIS-ALC). From October 30 to November 2, the Regional Meeting of Central, Mexican and Caribbean Catholic Television was held, during which participants shared their experiences of production, management and support.
The meeting was convened by the Archdiocese of Panama, through the Office of Communication and Press, and the Communication Commission of SEDAC - REDCAM.
Representatives of various Catholic TV channels in the region attended the meeting, including María Visión from Mexico; The Voz de María, of the Dominican Republic; Jesus TV Channel, Guatemala; San Jose TV, Costa Rica.
Communicators Guillermo Ares, Director of SIPCATV, Carlos Garde, Rome Reports; Julio Cumplido, Chief Technology Officer at Catholic.net; Father Ramón Zambrano, Canal Cristovisión and Father Francisco Verar, Director of the ETDF, spoke at the meeting.
Representatives of the various Catholic television channels in Central America and the Caribbean also had the opportunity to learn about the facilities of the FETV, TVN, MEDCOM, NEXTV and SERTV channels.
The last day of the meeting was devoted to discussing World Youth Day, with a panel of representatives of the country's commercial television. For his part, WYD's director of communications, Eduardo Soto, presented the strategy for broadcasting and coverage of this event. In addition, members of the Local Organizing Committee, such as Executive Secretary Víctor Chang, and those in charge of logistics, volunteering, relations with Bishops' Conferences and days in dioceses also participated.
