Prix SIGNIS at Prix Italia festival 2016

Lampedusa, October, 7th, 2016 (SIGNIS). The SIGNIS Prize at Prix Italia 2016 was awarded to the TV documentary Hello Syria! by Line Hoeck, Mai Rasmussen, Jakob Rasmussen (Denmark).

The Prix Italia Festival, which took place from September 30 to October 2 in Lampedusa, is one of the most prestigious festival for television, radio and web programmes, where, every year, SIGNIS honours a TV documentary.

This year, the SIGNIS Jury awarded a TV documentary which gives a voice to refugees fleeing from Syria to Europe, talking to their loved ones who stayed home.

The film underlines that communication is as important as food or shelter. The phone or Ipad becomes a vital instrument to keep humans “human". By watching the documentary, the audience will see the refugees as human beings. For this humanizing element and fluent narration, the SIGNIS prize goes to the film Hello Syria! of the Danish television.

The Jury was composed by Olivier Braillon (France), Guido Convents (Belgium), Mariachiara Martina (Italy) and Murti Hadi Wijayanto (Indonesia)
