Porto Alegre, August 30, 2018 (SIGNIS ALC) .- With the theme "Media Consumption in the Digital Market Era", the first Communication Congress of SIGNIS-Brazil begins this Thursday in Porto Alegre.

For João Romanini, president of SIGNIS Brazil, the Congress will be an opportunity to learn about global trends in the field of communication, aimed at innovation in the evangelization of the Church.

SIGNIS World will be represented in this Congress by its general secretary, Ricardo Yáñez and by the general manager of SIGNIS Services in Rome, Maria Chiara de Lorenzo, who will participate in the round table "Catholic Media and Peacebuilding".

In total, about 70 communicators and coordinators of media of Catholic inspiration will participate in a meeting that will culminate next Sunday.

The objective of the meeting is to promote reflection and the exchange of experiences, strategies and innovative practices in the field of communication, at the level of Brazil and the world. Also promote a culture of peace, innovation, creativity and ethics, from communication.

The Catholic Radio Network (RCR for ots abbreviation in Portuguese) and the television and print media of Catholic inspiration associated with SIGNIS Brazil assist in the organization of the event and the programming.

In addition to conferences, panels, round tables, workshops, related media activities and cultural exchanges, technological tools and trends in the field of communication will also be presented.

Another novelty will be the official start of SIGNIS Brasil Joven, which also collaborates in the preparation of the event. During the Congress 15 young people from different regions of Brazil will berepresenting the new programme.

Ricardo Alvarenga, coordinator of SIGNIS Brasil Joven, will serve as mediator of the panel "Liquid time, market in mutation", as well as in the one focused on "Youth, the world of work and communication today".

It should be noted that SIGNIS-ALC, the Latin American and Caribbean Communication Association, will also have a special participation during the event, in the hands of its president, Carlos Ferraro; and its vice president, María José Centurión.

Specifically, Ferraro will participate in the opening panel "A Communication for a Culture of Peace" and Centurión in the presentation "Communicadores del Futuro", given her performance as coordinator of the SIGNIS ALC Joven program.

The event is an initiative of SIGNIS Brazil, the World Catholic Association for Communication, an organization recognized by the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB), and affiliated with SIGNIS ALC and SIGNIS Mundial, an entity that has the recognition of the Holy See.
